Pokemon GO’s Sweet Discoveries event- which was launched on April 24- introduced the new pokemon Applin. It is a Grass and dragon type, Apple Core Pokemon. It has two evolutions- Flapple and Appletun. If you want a good head start, you should buy Pokemon GO accounts which already have high level Pokemon or resources to boost your progress easily. In this guide, you’ll find out how to get Applin, and how to evolve it easily. This makes sure you are always able to complete your Pokedex, without three apple pokemon missing.
Applin: The Apple Core Pokemon
Applin is a Generation VIII Pokemon coming from Pokemon Sword and Shield. It came first into Pokemon GO during the Sweet Discoveries event. Its looks are inspired by an apple with a worm-like dragon inside. Applin has a Grass and Dragon typing. This means it’s super effective against Water, Grass, and Ground types, but is weak to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy type moves. Its evolutions are Flapple (Grass and Dragon) and Appletun (Grass and Dragon). They have great base attack and defense stats.
Catching Applin
You can get Applin by encountering wild apples. Apples spawn regularly on the map. By tapping them you either get an Applin encounter, a Tart Apple, or a Sweet Apple.
Evolving Applin into Flapple or Appletun
To evolve Applin, you need at least 200 Applin Candy and 20 Tart Apples- if you want Flapple- or 20 Sweet Apples- if you want Appletun. Unlike other evolution items, the Tarts and Sweet Apples don’t occupy your bag space- this makes inventory management easier.
Getting 200 Applin Candy
· Catch Applin: each catch of Applin gets you about 3 – 6 candy (this becomes 6 – 12 when you use 2x Catch Candy). Pinap Berries (which come free from PokeStops) double the candy you get per catch. At max, this nets up to 12–24 candy.
· Hatch eggs: Hatching Applin from eggs gets you 16 – 32 candy.
· Rare Candy: You can convert Rare Candy into Applin Candy. Farm 5-star raids- this gets you 3 – 6 Rare Candy each raid.
Collecting Tart and Sweet Apples
· Wild Apples: By tapping the apples that spawn on the map, you can get Tart Apples, or Sweet Apples- at a random rate for each. As per the community, you can get about 1 – 2 apples of a kind, for every 5 wild apples you tap. This requires ~100 or more for 20 of one type.
· Field Research: Complete tasks which reward you 5 Tart or Sweet Apples. You can complete 4 such tasks for one of the evolutions.
· Mossy Lures: This increases apple spawns. This improves the item drop rates. Get PokeCoins from U7BUY and spend them on Mossy Lures to farm efficiently.
· Strategy: Focus on areas which have the best Mossy Lure yields, and stack up tasks to get apples easily. Trade of any excess apples with others for the other kind, if short on one type.
Evolution Process
Flapple: evolve Applin into Flapple by using 200 Applin Candy and 20 Tart Apples. Flapple has a high attack- with moves like Dragon Breath and Seed Bomb. This is ideal for countering Water and Grass types.
Appletun: evolve Applin into Appletun by using 200 Applin Candy and 20 Sweet Apples. Appletun has a high Defense- and moves like Dragon Tail and Apple Acid make it a great choice for battles.
Decision: Choose Flapple for PvP offense or Appletun for ones when you need to tank. Both of them need similar resources, so evolve into either of them based on your team’s needs (to cover up for grey spots) or you can just collect enough for both of them (400 candy, 20 Tart + 20 Sweet Apples).
Conclusion
Catching Applin and evolving it into Flapple or Appletun is an extremely rewarding challenge. It mixes exploration, strategy, and resource management all into one. Tap wild apples, complete tasks, and hatch eggs to collect 200 Applin Candy and 20 Tart or Sweet Apples. Choose Flapple for PvP when attacking or Appletun for its defense. Leverage event bonuses like 2x Catch Candy to minimize grinding, and maximise efficiency. Get into the event, stock up your bag with apples, and let Applin’s evolutions into your Pokedex before the event ends.
